Free CPD programme on drugs in sports and anti-doping by Allevia Medical Center

Allevia Medical Center is providing a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme on “Drugs in sports and anti-doping – an upgrade for healthcare professionals” on November 19 (8-11am), with Wellcare Pharmacies as the joint provider.
The initiative is tagged internally as “allwell.live academics”, visualising long-term continuing professional education for professionals and accessible health information for the general public.Officials told a press conference that Allevia is offering the programme based on high relevance factors: * Qatar is hosting high-level sporting events and therefore it is important that healthcare professionals (HCPs) should have advanced information on drugs in sports and anti-doping* HCPs are committed to patient safety and to protecting athletes' integrity, especially while suggesting or prescribing or medications which could be on the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) prohibited list* Mandatory CPD hours for quality professional practice insists on every HCP in Qatar to have upgrades in quality professional practice by undergoing needs-gap analysis/self-assessments* HCPs are bound to impart scientific knowledge and reliable sources of information to sports personnel and their management, especially on drugs in sport and antidoping.The CPD programme will have two sessions.The speaker in first session, *Drugs in sports and anti-doping – advanced concept, will be Dr Ahamed Awaisu, professor and head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Practice at Qatar University’s College of Pharmacy.Session two, *Drugs in sports and anti-doping – knowledge and process upgrade, will have as speaker S K Vyas, manager at Wellcare Pharmacies’ Pharmacy Academics.The CPD is approved for up to 3 CPD hours in Category 1 as defined by Department of Healthcare Professions.Allevia Medical Center managing director Ashraf K P said that the CPD is being offered free of charge to participants who will be chosen from those who register.The CPD is for the professions of physician, pharmacist, nurse, dentist, lab technologist, pharmacy technician, and physiotherapist.The registration links are available on various Internet/social media platforms of Allevia Medical Center, Wellcare Pharmacy, and via WhatsApp (+974 55212999).Others who spoke at the press conference are Allevia Medical Center chief operating officer Udhaya Kumar, Scientific Planning Committee chair S K Vyas, Allevia Medical Center medical director Dr Vijay Vishnu, and Mohamed Farook, manager (Operations) at Wellcare Pharmacies.
