MES Indian School - Abu Hamour branch (MESIS) celebrated Children’s Day on November 14 with excitement and joy, marking a memorable day for students and teachers.
A special assembly was conducted by the talented teachers who presented the students with a variety of cultural programmes to celebrate the occasion. Zenia Azeem started the special assembly with her words “Every child is a different kind of flower and all together makes this world a beautiful garden.”
The special assembly was presided over by principal Dr Mohamed Haneef. He reminded learners of the vision of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru that the young generation will be the future leaders and, if nurtured with good education and care, they can change the world.
Dr Haneef also honoured the winners of the interschool debate competition, Talking Titans - Rihan and Syeda Manha - with their trophies.
A group song was presented by the teachers to wish all students on the occasion. The main highlight of the assembly was a solo classical dance performance by teacher Swathi.
Students also participated in the special assembly with immense zeal. Many children of grade I and II dressed up as Pandit Nehru and wished the audience. The special assembly was followed by a cultural programme staged by the students of grade VII and VIII.
Students of grade VIII performed a group song and a classical dual dance was performed by Greeshma and Sruthi to mark the day.
Falaqul Thahira, head girl, gave a speech while Yadhu Krishna of grade VIII dressed up as Nehru and also spoke on the occasion. Mayaza from grade VIII gave a speech on the rights and duties of children.
The event was held in the multipurpose hall and students of all classes joined from their classrooms via Zoom. The event also featured fun-filled activities and games planned by the class teachers.
