The General Directorate of Industrial Security at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Thursday celebrated the graduation of the seventh batch of the industrial security course for officers from GCC countries.
The course was organised by the Department at the Officers Club of the General Department of Civil Defence from November 7, a MoI statement explained.A total of 13 officers from various GCC countries attended the course, which comes within the framework of security co-operation and co-ordination in the field of industrial security among the GCC states.The ceremony was attended by Lt Col Khalifa Mohamed al-Attiyah, Director General of Industrial Security. He said the topics and the important themes discussed would contribute to the development of work and achieving the objectives in the protection of industrial facilities. The senior official appreciated the efforts of industrial security personnel in securing oil installations.Captain Khalifa Rashid al-Dosari, head of the Training and Development Centre at the General Directorate of Industrial Security, said that the aim of the course lies in exchanging ideas and unifying visions among the GCC countries on how to protect vital and energy facilities, especially oil and gas.The course covered the latest trends, science and technology used in guarding and protecting these facilities. Also, it dealt with a number of important topics, including the relationship of industrial security with the overall system of national security and the tasks and duties of industrial security.In addition to security risk management, security planning and industrial security and terrorism, the course dealt with crisis and emergency management, the relationship between industrial security and the police and the relationship between industrial security and occupational health and safety. Also, it focused on security risk management processes and risk assessment methods and included field visits to some industrial cities in Qatar.On behalf of the graduates, Col Bandar Gharman al-Shehri, from the Civil Defence Directorate of Saudi Arabia's MoI, thanked the course organisers for their hospitality.He added that such courses provide participants with new skills and they learn about modern work methods in addition to exchanging experiences and expertise among colleagues from the other GCC countries.
