Katara – The Cultural Village Foundation has announced the launch of an operetta entitled 'A Folktale in Love of the Nation', as part of activities coinciding with the start of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, which will be held from November 30 to December 18.
The 25-minute operetta includes three lyrical performances, the first urging the girls to play the rattlesnake game, the second show a dialogue between the grandfather and his grandchildren, in which he urges them to play popular games instead of immersing themselves in electronic games; it concludes with the folk song 'Taq Taq Taqiyya'.
The third show includes urging children to pay attention to sports.
The performances conclude with the song 'Ya Marhaba', welcoming guests from Arab countries participating in the tournament, written by poet Hussein al-Bakri and produced by musician Walid Aba al-Qassem.
The operetta is written and directed by artist Shuail al-Kuwari, and the lyrics are by the poet Hessa al-Awadi.
The operetta includes a puppet theatre as well as show scenes inspired by folk songs.
The operetta will be performed on Thursdays and Fridays from December 2-17.
