The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) signed an agreement to prepare a training programme entitled "Public-Private Partnership accredited by the APMG International Institute for Academic Accreditation", with the support of the university.
The agreement was signed by Director of the Financial and Administrative Affairs Department at the MoCI Nasser Mohamed al-Mohannadi and GU-Q Dean Dr Clyde Wilcox, within the framework of the MoCI's commitment to strengthening partnership with various government entities and to refine the expertise of specialists in partnership projects between the public and private sectors.
Under the agreement, the two parties agreed that GU-Q would design and implement a structured education programme for public-private partnerships. It is accredited by APMG International, a global institute for academic accreditation and examinations, and supported by GU-Q.
The programme includes specialised virtual workshops that simulate the needs of the ministry and the participating parties in line with Qatari law and the country's regulatory and executive guidelines.
The workshops aim to refine the participants' skills, enhance their capabilities, and enable them to manage, select, analyse and implement partnership projects and monitor their efficient performance.
A number of senior officials and employees of the MoCI as well as various government entities in Qatar participate in the workshops. Upon successful completion of the programme, participants are awarded the internationally recognised APMG PPP Professional Certificate in addition to a certificate from GU-Q.
The APMG PPP certification programme is accredited by the World Bank Group, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Asian Development Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and Islamic Development Bank, among other parties with a common vision to enhance the performance of the public-private partnership globally.
