Indian school students displayed their public speaking skills in the annual Dr A P J Abdul Kalam memorial elocution competition organised by Qatar Tamizhar Sangam (QTS) under the aegis of the Indian embassy.
A former President of India, the late Dr Kalam was a passionate teacher and he believed that students are the future pillars of building strong nation. In the Tamil elocution competition 2021 finals the 24 students were grouped into sub-junior category (classes III-V), junior (classes VI-VIII) and senior categories (classes IX-XII).
In the sub-junior category, Kameleshwar Purushothaman (DPS MIS), Atheequr Rahman (MES) and Nishitha Karthik (DPS MIS) bagged the first, second and third prizes, respectively.
In the junior category, Padmavarshan Vijayakumar (BPS) and Abishek (MES) bagged the first and second prizes, respectively. Mithra Vijayakumar (BPS) and Soubiksha Rajesh (MES) shared the third prize. In the senior category, Arsheya Tarmia Jeyakumar (MES) and Shiline Jovita Xavier Raj (MES) were first and second, respectively.
The event sponsor Ashraf (director, Brilliant Group of Institutions), Sakthivel Mahalingam (Ultimate Trading) and officials of Indian Cultural Centre, Indian Community Benevolent Forum and other dignitaries graced the occasion. The winners were given trophies and certificates of appreciation.
