Ambassador affirms strength of Qatari-Philippine relations

The Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the country Alan L Timbayan highlighted the four decades of strong bilateral relations between his country and the State of Qatar, reaffirming his country's commitment to continue the friendly relations and expand co-operation in areas of mutual interests.

He said, in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day, that over the past 40 years, the State of Qatar and the Philippines have entered several bilateral agreements and supported each other in various regional and international fora.The ambassador praised on this occasion the State of Qatar's support for his country during the Covid-19 pandemic, saying "During the time of pandemic, Qatar has extended support and provided aid to the Philippines and the relations between the two countries became stronger than ever."The humanitarian efforts of Qatar, through the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, will be in the hearts of Filipinos, His Excellency said.His Excellency also expressed his gratitude for the remarkable assistance that the State of Qatar has extended to the Filipino community in the country.Regarding Qatar's efforts to confront the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, he said that the world has also seen Qatar take measures to protect its economy, like, providing generous stimulus package to affected sectors.Furthermore, the pandemic has challenged Qatar's telecommunication, media and technology sectors in innovating and building stronger digital presence to meet the demands of its people and residents, headded.As for Qatar's preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, His Excellency noted that Qatar is creating a lasting legacy not only for itself but for the region and the Arab world.and the Arab world.Qatar has extensively prepared for its hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022 not only for the required infrastructure but also in the field of labor, he added.His Excellency congratulated HH the Amir, the government, and the people of Qatar on the occasion of the National Day."In the celebration of Qatar National Day I also wish to thank and congratulate HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for his wise and benevolent leadership which continuously steers Qatar to greater heights," he added.
