Some 35 hot-air balloons of varying designs, shapes, and colours continue to wow residents as they soar across the skies of Doha every morning since the start of the second edition of the Qatar Balloon Festival.
Many commuters – enthralled to see majestic scenery in the sky as they drive to their destinations – have shared several photos and videos of the balloons on social media.
“These ‘sunrise balloon launches’ really mesmerise me since I first saw it at Clark in the Philippines, and I am so lucky to experience it again here in Doha. I hope there will be more to come,” said Filipino expatriate Cristina L.

The festival, coinciding with four major events in the country – Qatar International Food Festival, FIFA Arab Cup 2021, Qatar Live 2021, and the Qatar National Day –provides an opportunity for people to witness a unique attraction at around 6am daily for 10 days.
The balloons take off from one location to another, giving people in the area a chance to see the balloons closer and vividly as they fly. After an exciting ‘desert adventure’ at Sealine, they were recently seen at Katara Esplanade and Al Sadd areas.

“The Doha sky is well-decorated every morning with these amazing hot air balloons, it is really pleasing to the eye, and I like that one which resembles the face of a clown,” Indian expatriate Rahul said. “I hope that a similar and bigger balloon festival will be held before the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.”
Apart from the balloons, the event, which concludes today (December 18), also features other family-friendly activities and side events for people to enjoy, including live performances (music bands), roving jugglers and mascots, inflatable playground for children, and food offerings, among others at Aspire Park.
