Ambassador of Moldova to Qatar Victor Tvircun praised Qatar's preparation to organise the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as it reflects the rapid and strong development it has undergone in the past years. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day, the ambassador said, "What Qatar did so far and still do to organise the event at the highest level impresses a lot. For instance, the new buildings, stadiums, transport infrastructure, will offer Qatar the unique position in the region to be the center of sport life not only during the World Cup tournament but for many decades after."
He extended congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, members of the Government and all Qatari people, who have achieved the success of being the host of the prestigious football tournament World Cup to take place in 2022.
The ambassador said, "Our friendly relations were established in 1997, the opening in 2013 of the embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Doha, became the first in an Arab country and of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Chisinau, being the first Arab embassy in the Republic of Moldova, confirms the intention of building a mutually beneficial and lasting relationship."
"Over the last years, many actions have happened that serve as proof of the continuous development of our ties. Qatar has donated medical aid to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic, this is the first ever medical aid sent by an Arabic country to Moldova -- On behalf of my President, Government and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova I would like to express a gratitude and deep recognition to the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani," he added.
"Our countries have very closely on the cultural level, by organising together various cultural events. The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the State of Qatar, in collaboration with the National Museum of Art of the Republic of Moldova and with the support of the Cultural Village Foundation "Katara", the first exhibition of Moldovan contemporary art in Qatar, entitled "Connections". In addition, to plans of mutual exchange of musicians and organizing of photography and art exhibition in Moldova and Qatar, for next year."
He pointed out, "The State of Qatar can serve as a model on how to combat pandemics and succeed in economic growth, by proving to be strong in the face of the crisis, managing to take the necessary decisions aimed at prevention of spread of the epidemics, and improve the economy. It is because of the wise policies of the Qatari leadership that have been focused on achieving long term successful productivity, here is included the diversification of economy, food security advancement and strategic planning and investment. These aspects have helped Qatar to withstand the shocks of international economic crisis and advance its economy."
The ambassador concluded, "On the beautiful occasion of the National Day of the State of Qatar, I have the honour to send the most sincere and heartfelt congratulations and wishes of prosperity and peace! May Qatar and Qatari people continue to develop at such impressive pace, building a stable country where traditions, culture, progress persist in harmony and at its best level. The State of Qatar being in size and population similar to my country, has managed to acquire a full-fledged international standing and position, thanks to the wise leadership of the country. Moreover, the influence and credibility of Qatar has grown so much that currently Qatar has become a mediator in various regional and international conflict resolution."
