HE the Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Thani, affirmed that the celebrations of Qatar National Day every year confirms the impact of the authentic Qatari values in strengthening the national identity that is based on the culture of the Qatari society in all stages of its history, as it is a safety valve for its life and stability and is also the catalyst for its prosperity and civilisational renaissance.
He said in a statement on the occasion of Qatar National Day, the Qataris, generation after generation, have been able to prove their adherence to their national unity and to confront difficulties with determination and work, through their solidarity, support for their leadership, and loyalty to their homeland.
HE the Minister explained that this year's National Day slogan, "Ancestral Meadows: a Matter of Trust", comes to consolidate that permanent relationship between Qataris and their environment, a relationship based throughout history on coexistence.
Despite the cruelty of nature, the Qataris have succeeded in preserving their wild environment, as they established with other nations economic and civilised exchange relations and, thanks to the view of the sea, they carved in their personality a culture of environmental sustainability and openness to the other.
He noted that the Qataris viewed their environment as inspiring for their creativity and arts in its various forms, so poets, writers, artists and thinkers lived among it. They sang their poetry and painted the beauty of its elements, and contemplated its dimensions, stressing that Qatari creators still draw from its simplicity and invent their creativity and ideas from their adaptation to it.
He said, "the Qatari environment has been a witness to the serious challenges faced by Qataris in the past and present, and thanks to their clinging to their national affiliation, their keenness on work ethics and their commitment to a culture of social responsibility, they were able to overcome challenges," noting that the celebrations marking Qatar National Day enhances in the youth and all categories of the society the values of citizenship and makes every Qatari and resident of our beloved country, Qatar proud of its development.
He added that the National Day is a renewed opportunity to inspire intellectuals and creators in various fields to create, innovate and participate in building the nation and enhancing its position among all nations.
