The diplomatic, consular and representative missions of Qatar celebrated the National Day, which falls on December 18, in commemoration of the founder of the state, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani, under the slogan: "Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust," QNA reported.
In Khartoum, the Qatar embassy's celebration was attended by Mohamed Bashir Abu Namou, Sudan Minister of Minerals, along with wide participation of officials, political and economic figures, ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Sudan and other members of society.
The minister, on behalf of the government and people of Sudan, extended his congratulations to the government of Qatar and the Qatari people on the National Day, stressing that Sudan enjoys strong relations with Qatar based on respect and mutual trust.
He referred to Qatar's role in developing solutions to most issues and disputes, praising its role in establishing peace in the Darfur region and stressing the confidence of the Sudanese government and people in the ability of the brothers in Qatar to play a greater role in achieving stability in the regional and international environment.
Abdulrahman bin Ali al-Kubaisi, Qatar's ambassador, stressed in a speech that the Qatari-Sudanese relations were and are still strong and extending in all fields, which lays the foundations for further progress and prosperity.
Qatar reiterated its full support for Sudan at this important stage in its history and its firm position in support of the unity, sovereignty and stability of Sudan and its keenness to support bilateral relations for the benefit of the two brotherly countries and people.

The attendance of the ceremony was limited to the diplomats at the embassy due to the Covid-19 exceptional circumstances and adherence to government decisions and precautionary measures issued by the Ministry of Health in the Republic of Moldova.

The ceremony was attended by Advisor to the President of Cote d'Ivoire Ally Coulibaly, several parliamentarians, and officials in the Ivorian government.
