The Sport Accelerator, which has recently opened at Aspire Zone Foundation, is the first sports economic gathering of its kind in Qatar and the Middle East held in the presence of a number of officials and dignitaries in the country.
On the sidelines of the opening, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between The Sport Accelerator and the Qatar Free Zones Authority, which aims to diversify the economy and support the sustainable development goals of Qatar.
The MoU was signed by Ali Abdullah al-Mutawa, president of The Sport Accelerator, and QFZA chief corporate support officer and acting chief zones operating officer Fahad Zainal.
The Sport Accelerator is a dedicated sector within Aspire Zone Foundation established to leverage Qatar’s status as a global sports hub by creating new business opportunities for the private sector, attracting foreign investment, and developing Qatari entrepreneurs.
Through these activities, The Sport Accelerator will increase the share of the sports sector in Qatar’s economy in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030. The Sport Accelerator will include companies within the sports value chain from across the whole world for a low rent rate that is considered the lowest in the market.
Commenting on this event, Azzam al-Mannai, CEO, The Sport Accelerator, said: “We are pleased to announce the opening of The Sport Accelerator building, which represents a unique launch of cooperation between sports and economic entities in the country and the world, which will enhance the country’s position as a regional centre for sports business.
“We take this opportunity to extend our thanks for the support of Aspire Zone Foundation for the success of The Sport Accelerator, headed by Mr Mohamed Khalifa al-Suwaidi, CEO of Aspire Zone Foundation, and Mr Ali Abdulla al-Mutawaa, Committee Chairman of The Sport Accelerator, and we thank our partners Qatar Financial Centre, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Development Bank, Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, (2022) Sports City Enterprise, and Qatar Free Zones Authority.”
