Cric Qatar hosted a cricket tournament to mark Qatar National Day. HIQ Cricket Club were the winners of the tournament . The runner-up was Red Hawks.
In another league tournament featuring 42 teams, the championship was won by CCRC Warriors defeating Al Jabor Cricket Club. Ayub Khan of HIQ Cricket Club was adjudged the Most Valuable Player for scoring 95 runs off 33 balls with three boundaries and 11 sixes. He was ably supported by Syed Tousif who scored 44 runs off 12 balls, with two boundaries and five sixes. Cric Qatar chairman Syed Rafi said the goal is to hold tournaments in a professional manner. The event was organised by Channel5. The prizes were awarded by Syed Rafi, J P Singh, Venkappa, K T Rao, Mukarram, Atif, Irfan, Ashok Raj and Fakhru.
