DPS Modern Indian School conducted a webinar under the initiative of Qatar Chapter Principal’s Forum, in order to bring the teachers from different schools together to share pedagogical methods and best practices. The topic for the session was 'Innovative and Best Practices in Teaching and Learning in Grade I and II.'
Principal Asna Nafees addressed the educators and shared her thoughts. Sini Menon, headmistress (I-V) welcomed the educators from various schools and introduced the topic and the speakers of the day.
The first speaker, Diana Bastian started with ‘Activity based learning' and shared a variety of activities, which enhances the student’ learning. She discussed about the different ways, objectives and the benefits of ‘Activity based teaching’.
She also threw light on how such activities help in accomplishing the different aspects of Bloom’s Taxonomy. She emphasized on having a well-planned daily lesson plan, in line with the curriculum, which caters to subject integration, art integration and norms laid out by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
The second speaker, Mukti Goel, brought an insight on teaching through ‘Real life experiences.' She covered the points – benefits of starting a class with ‘Real Life Experience’, methods of organising such situations in class, the challenges faced by the teachers, the long-lasting effect on students who learn through this methodology. Vice principal (Junior School), Shifa Shaikh, answered the queries.
