Unsettled traffic violations to be referred to Public Prosecution

The Traffic Department has the right to refer some violations, when they are not settled within one year, to the Public Prosecution, an official told Qatar TV.
"Yet, the vehicle registration in such cases would be renewed by the Traffic Department while the case will be followed up by the department concerned," explained Col Jaber Mohamed Rashid Odaiba, assistant director of the Media and Traffic Awareness department at the Traffic Department.
The official pointed out that March 17, 2022, will be the deadline for the Traffic Department's initiative of offering 50% discount on traffic fines.
Subsequently, traffic fines can be reduced to 50% in applicable cases when paid within one month of committing the violation, Col Odaiba added.
