Leading jewellery retailer Malabar Gold & Diamonds recently distributed about 100 winter kits to labourers in camps in Sheehaniya and Industrial Areas, it was announced Monday. A part of the brand's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, the initiative was carried out in association with the Cultural Forum Qatar. This was the fourth year of the campaign.
CSR activities are a fundamental part of Malabar Group’s culture and the organisation ensures that 5% of its net profit is used for CSR activities where they operate, a statement explained. Santhosh T V, regional head, Malabar Gold & Diamonds Qatar said: “With the support of likeminded organisations such as Cultural forum Qatar, we are confident that we will succeed in bringing a significant difference to the underprivileged strata of the society”.
Muhammed Kunji T K, vice president of Cultural Forum said: "Over the last two decades, we have established a credible presence in Qatar with our philanthropic and socio-cultural activities. We thank Malabar Gold & Diamonds for joining hands with us for this noble cause.”
The key focus areas of the CSR initiatives of Malabar Group are in the areas of health, education, women empowerment, housing and environment. The group, which currently has showrooms across GCC, India, Malaysia, Singapore and the US undertakes several welfare activities throughout the year in the respective regions, the statement added.
