* Language Center at HBKU's Translation and Interpreting Institute Opens Registration for Spring Courses
To promote a culture of learning and to celebrate languages in the wider community, the Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII), part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), has opened registration for its Spring 2022 language courses,QNA reported.
The courses further TII's mission to provide a world-class foreign language education that enables learners to acquire a new language in a natural setting.
TII currently offers 12 languages to adults: Arabic, English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Russian and Turkish, and six to children and youth: Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Mandarin Chinese, and Portuguese. Students unsure about their levels will be allotted an appropriate language command level based on placement tests. Children will gain an opportunity to practice the language of their choice through structured lessons that integrate diverse activities, such as art and crafts, drama, games, and music. Classes for adults will run for 11 weeks, while those for children will run over 14 Saturdays.
Dr Nima Nazari, adjunct professor at CHSS and director of TII's Language Center, said: "We welcome people of all ages and ability levels. We ensure students are immersed in a learning experience which is both effective and engaging. Our instructors are native or near-native speakers who use up-to-date methodologies and technologies to fast-track students to their goals. Multilingualism is a great asset and is essential to be able to function in today's global economy. A new language can help boost professional, policy and business success."
The classes are led by qualified instructors with prior experience in teaching children and adults and will be held at flexible timings throughout the week.
