The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) announced Thursday that it will take the necessary precautionary measures in mosques, in line with the procedures followed in the country against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The new guidelines will be implemented from Saturday. The spacing between worshippers during the daily and Friday prayers is the same as that of prayer mat or half a metre. During the Friday sermon, worshippers should maintain a distance of one between each other. Entry is not allowed for those not vaccinated and children under 12.
The ministry has urged the worshippers to abide by the precautionary measures and procedures in order to ensure the safety of worshippers and community members.
The Ehteraz app should be shown before entering the mosque, with each person mandated to bring his own prayer mat, and necessarily, wear a mask. Anyone suffering from cold, cough or high temperature should not attend the mosque.
Toilets and ablution facilities will be open only in designated mosques, the ministry added.
