Northwesterly winds will return to the country this weekend, bringing down the temperature and causing high seas, the Qatar Met department has said.
The temperature may drop to below 8° Celsius in some places during this period, and it will feel colder than that during at certain times.
"It is expected that northwesterly winds will return between Thursday evening (January 27) and Sunday (January 30), fresh to strong in intensity over most areas, with the wind speed ranging from 12-22 knots and gusts of 30 knots at times over some areas," the Met department said in a report.
This will cause blowing dust and low horizontal visibility of less than 2km, especially in the open areas.
The sea waves will range in height from 5-8’, rising to 10’ in some places at times.
The northwesterly winds will be accompanied by a decrease in temperature, the forecast states.
The maximum will range from 17-23C and the minimum from 8-15C, and it may drop below 8C especially in the southern and external areas.
The apparent temperature will be lower than that during the night and early in the morning.
Apparent temperatures are those felt by humans and related to several factors, including atmospheric humidity and wind speed.
The higher the wind speed in the winter, the greater the feeling of coldness.
The Met department has urged all to be careful and avoid all marine activities, as well as to follow latest updates through its official accounts.
Meanwhile, the country experienced mild weather conditions and light to moderate winds Tuesday, with the temperature ranging from 15-27C in Doha (airport area).
Wednesday's forecast says it will be misty to foggy in some places at first, causing low visibility, followed by mild daytime conditions and a relatively cold night.
The temperature is expected to range from 16-25C in Doha Wednesday.
