* New measures come into effect on Saturday
Children will be allowed inside mosques from Saturday, January 29. The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs on Wednesday issued a statement on the easing of some Covid-19 restrictions in mosques. Children will be allowed to enter mosques and toilets and ablution facilities will be opened, the ministry said. Worshippers will have to continue following some Covid-19 precautionary measures. These include showing the Ehteraz green status to the staff before entering the mosque, bringing one's own prayer mat, and wearing the mask. Also, adequate distance has to be maintained between worshippers for daily and Friday prayers, which is equal to the size of a prayer mat (half a metre). Also, there should be 1m distance during the Friday sermon. The ministry has urged people who suffer from cold, cough and high temperature not to attend the mosque.
