MES Indian School, Abu Hamour branch (MESIS), celebrated the 73rd Republic Day of India virtually on January 26.
The celebrations commenced with a prayer recitation and translation by Neja Mehdin (VII-A) and Maryam Bahamed (VII-C). The school prayer was recited by Master Navaneedh Naveen (VI-B), while Master Talha of VII-D presented the thought of the day.

The chief guest on the occasion, Abdul Karim K (president, MESIS), graced the virtual celebrations with his presence. With his encouraging statements, he diverted the virtual gathering's focus to the Indian Constitution, the duties and responsibilities of citizens and their fundamental rights.
“Even though we are thousands of miles away from home, we celebrate this day to commemorate our country's history and traditions," he said, kindling the flame of patriotism among everyone present with his speech.
Principal Dr Mohamed Haneef conveyed his thoughts through his ideas. He said the people of India, despite their diversity, are united by an unseen thread of being Indian. This sentiment stems from the set of laws that propel the country ahead to having the world's strongest "human capital".
Ayesha Shaikh (VI-A) gave a speech on Republic Day in which she expressed her views. Shruthi and Greeshma of Grade VIII delivered a classical dance performance.
With their wonderful vocals, the winners of the patriotic song competition (students of grades 6-8) provided a touch of sweetness to the virtual event.
Laxmi Priya (VI-C) enthralled the audience and made them tap their feet to her Western performance. Shama (VIII-B) exhibited her expressive skills through her solo dance performance, while Vandit Shah (V-B) showed with an instrumental performance that where words fail, music speaks.
Jibins Jose and Asilimiyath, MESIS teachers reminded everyone of the belief in patriotism while performing a song. Ashokan, academic supervisor, expressed his sincere gratitude and deepest appreciation in the vote of thanks.
