Gaiety and patriotic fervour at BPS

The 73rd Republic Day of India - Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was celebrated with gaiety and patriotic fervour at Birla Public School (BPS), Doha, on its main campus.
The flag was unfurled by the head boys and head girls of various sections in the presence of the senior leadership team headed by the management representative, Chindhu Antony Rappai; academic director-principal Harish Sanduja; head of Non-Academics, Vinod Kumar K V, along with vice-principals, headmistresses, heads of various departments, year co-ordinators, teachers, admin and supporting staff, on the Birla Public School main campus on January 26. It was followed by the national anthem and a patriotic song rendered by the teachers. While addressing the audience, Sanduja stressed that believing in a common cause and living together is the secret of the survival of humans and the Constitution is the book under which Indians unite.Later on, Raksha Muthukumar and Reece Mujeeb from Secondary orchestrated the virtual programme. Reece began with a prayer and Raksha rendered the welcome speech.Sanduja also presented a small PowerPoint on 'Heroes' while addressing the virtual audience. He explained about Dr Vikram Sarabhai, how he founded the Indian Space Research Organisation and the rough beginnings of any innovative venture. Enumerating the recent unique achievements, he went on to reiterate that the "future of our country was bright and the students need to acknowledge the greatness of our nation".The students of Kindergarten presented a patriotic performance, titled 'Azadi Ke Diwane'. It was followed by a patriotic song by the school choir. Rabindranath Tagore’s poem ‘Where the mind is without fear’ was presented by the students of Primary 2. A solo dance performance by Gowri Subhir Menon followed. Desna Dennis Thattil from the Senior Secondary section, enlightened the audience on the historic art of patriotism with her speech 'Declamation of patriotism'.A lively dance show by the school team, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a documentary by the Department of Social Science and a speech in Hindi by Ananya Mahajan were the other much-appreciated performances of the day. Words of gratitude were delivered by Reece, bringing the show to a successful conclusion.
