In-person learning with 100% attendance resumed in public and private schools as well as kindergartens (KGs) across the country on Sunday.
On the occasion, HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi on Sunday visited some government schools to check the progress of the educational process and ascertain the extent of their preparedness to receive students and their commitment to the precautionary and preventive measures in place to prevent Covid-19, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) said in a statement.
The visit included Salah Al Deen Preparatory School for Boys and Umama Bint Hamza Primary School for Girls, where HE the Minister met school leaders and praised their role in the continuity of the educational process despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
HE al-Nuaimi gave directions for the efficient use of available resources to compensate for any educational loss that students may have had during the previous period, especially in the field of enhancing skills and providing social and psychological support for children with special needs, while stressing the importance of the role of qualified teachers in providing students with educational competencies for the coming period.

At the conclusion of her visit, HE al-Nuaimi stressed to school leaders the need to provide a healthy and safe school environment that enhances academic achievements, in addition to strengthening the partnership with parents in the educational decision-making process.
The MoEHE had earlier stressed that schools and kindergartens were fully prepared to receive students while taking all precautionary and preventive measures against Covid-19 and providing a safe learning environment for students as well as staff.
A rapid antigen test (RAT) has to be conducted on a weekly basis at home for all students of public and private schools and kindergartens, across all grades. Only a negative result will enable them to enter the school building, provided the test takes place within a maximum of 48 hours before returning to school.
If a student’s test result is positive, s/he must visit the nearest health centre to confirm the result.
If it is confirmed that s/he is infected with the virus, s/he must follow the established health isolation procedure, and attend classes through the distance learning system, if the student’s health condition permits this.
Yesterday, students were seen arriving in different schools with the mandatory declaration form, signed by their parents and showing that the children have tested negative in the RAT done at home.
