The Al Wakra Municipality, represented by the Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department, carried out 409 field inspections during January on food establishments within its administrative limits. According to an official press statement from the Ministry of Municipality, the campaign resulted in the closure of one bakery for violating Food Control Law No. 8 of 1990 while 17 violation reports were issued. Also, 12 violations were reconciled and four reports were sent to the security authorities to take the appropriate action against them. The department also received 10 complaints that were resolved and addressed directly. The Health Control Section also supervised the slaughter of 11,426 sheeps, camels and cows inside the Al Wakra automatic slaughterhouse. As much as 225 whole carcasses, and 5196kg of carcasses were partially destroyed while about 45 tonnes of fish were examined inside the market here. Also, 3,679 kg of desert truffles were examined in the central market of Al Wakra in order to ensure their safety for human consumption.
