Ooredoo Group announced Wednesday the appointment of Khalid Hassan al-Hamadi as chief executive officer of Ooredoo Maldives. Former managing director and CEO, Najib Khan, will join the Ooredoo Group team in a new role.
Al-Hamadi joined Ooredoo in 2010, where he was most recently senior director of Consumer Sales, achieving substantial revenue for the company and significantly enhancing digital sales.
He is an EFQM certified assessor and has played a key role in conducting internal and external assessments for Ooredoo, as well as developing a number of systems, such as KPI monitoring and handling corporate studies for the entire organisation. He was a board member of Ooredoo Maldives from 2017 to 2021.
The appointment of al-Hamadi as CEO of Ooredoo Maldives aligns with the core element of Ooredoo Group’s corporate strategy, which includes a firm commitment to investing in its people and recruiting, training, and developing the next generation of talent from within its markets.
Furthermore, al-Hamadi joins a growing league of Qatari leaders who are making their mark across the Doha-based Ooredoo Group’s global footprint. A raft of C-suite appointments in recent years has seen a significant number of Qataris taking up senior leadership positions, both at Ooredoo Group and across its operating companies.
Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, managing director, Ooredoo Group, said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Khalid Hassan al-Hamadi as CEO of Ooredoo Maldives, following an already impressive career within the group. I also take this opportunity to thank Najib Khan, who will now join the group team, for his great achievements during his years of service as MD and CEO of Ooredoo Maldives.
“We are firmly committed to the ongoing professional development of our brightest talents as part of our corporate strategy, and take great pride in celebrating their stellar achievements as their careers progress. We strongly believe investment in human capital is key to our future success and look forward to seeing Ooredoo Maldives go from strength to strength with al-Hamadi at the helm.”
Ooredoo Group management has wished al-Hamadi and Khan the very best in their new roles.
