PM, Moroccan counterpart co-chair 8th session of Qatari-Moroccan Joint Supreme Committee

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani and Morocco's Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch co-chaired the meeting of the 8th session of the Qatar-Moroccan Joint Supreme Committee.At the outset of the meeting, which was held on Monday at the Amiri Diwan, HE the Prime Minister welcomed the Head of the Moroccan Government and his accompanying delegation, commending the relations between the two countries, which continue to grow and prosper thanks to the keenness of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and King Mohamed VI of Morocco to enhance relations in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.HE the Prime Minister expressed his aspiration for the committee's meetings to result in the contribution to achieving co-operation and mutual interests, indicating that Qatar and Morocco share views on regional and international issues, and looking forward to strengthening co-operation on issues of concern to the Arab and Islamic nations.For his part, the Head of Moroccan Government expressed his thanks and appreciation to HE the Prime Minister and the government and people of Qatar, for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, hoping that his visit will contribute to strengthening co-operation between the two countries, as well as the achievement of the two peoples' aspired bilateral co-operation in various fields, noting that the Qatari-Moroccan relations are constantly evolving thanks to the care and support provided by the two countries leaders.He also congratulated Qatar for organising the first legislative elections, and for its success in organising the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, emphasising his confidence in Qatar's ability to organise an honourable FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 — acquiring global acknowledgment and honouring all Arabs. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and means of developing them in various fields, especially economy, investment, culture, sports and tourism. They also reviewed the recent regional and international developments and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. HE the Prime Minister and the Head of the Moroccan Government signed the minutes of the meeting of the Joint Supreme Committee's 8th session.After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a number of programmes and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the two governments, as they witnessed the signing of an MoU in endowments and Islamic affairs, an MoU for co-operation in tourism and business events, and an MoU for co-operation in the field of oversight work between the State Audit Bureau of Qatar and the Supreme Court of Accounts in Morocco.They also witnessed the signing of the 5th executive programme of the cultural and technical agreement for the years 2022-2023-2024-2025, in addition to the signing of the second executive programme in sports for the co-operation agreement in youth and sports for the years 2022-2023-2024, and the draft of the third executive programme in the field of youth for the co-operation agreement between the two governments in youth and sports for the years 2022-2023-2024.The meeting and the signing ceremony were attended by Their Excellencies the Ministers and Their Excellencies members of the official accompanying delegation of the Head of the Moroccan Government.
