173 donate blood at QISF campaign

A total of 173 people donated blood at a campaign organised by Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) on February 11 as part of India's Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and also as a part of Qatar National Sport Day, in association with Hamad Medical Corporation.

Indian ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal, the chief guest, inaugurated the event held at the Hamad Blood Donation Centre in Doha and requested all Indian community members to come forward to donate blood. Indian Cultural Centre president P N Baburajan, Indian Sports Centre president Dr Mohan Thomas, SKMWA president Abdul Majeed, QISF president Ayyub Ullal, general secretary Syed Komachi, vice president Salam Kunnamal, secretaries Usman, Usama Ahammed and other officials were present.Awareness sessions were conducted by Dr Amit Varma, specialist in Family Medicine and Diabetes, Rawdat Al-Khail Health Centre; Dr Mohamed Rahmatullah Shafeeq, head of Infection Control Department, HMC and Dr Brian Daniel Okumu, family consultant, Al Wajba Health Centre. QISF state secretary Mohamed Fahad welcomed the guests and block general secretary Atique Madakeri proposed a vote of thanks.
