Qatar, Algeria sign pacts to bolster co-operation
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and President of the sisterly People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune, held an official talks session at the Amiri Diwan on Sunday.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Amir welcomed the Algerian president and the accompanying delegation, wishing him a pleasant stay, and the relations of the two countries further development and growth in various fields.
For his part, President Tebboune expressed his thanks to the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality, looking forward to strengthen relations of co-operation to achieve the aspirations of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
During the session, they discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them in various fields, in addition to discussing issues of joint interest.
The session was attended by His Highness the Personal Representative of the Amir Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani and HE Chief of Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani.
The session was also attended by HE the Minister of Transport Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti, HE the Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie, HE the Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Thani, HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi and HE the Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad.
On the Algerian side, the session was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals Abdul Rashid Tabbi, Minister of Energy and Mining Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdelbaki Benziane, Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Issues Kawthar Kriko, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Mohamed Abdel Hafeez Hani and Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City Tarek Belaribi.
His Highness the Amir and the Algerian president also held a bilateral meeting, during which they exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, as well as the latest developments.
Upon his arrival at the Amiri Diwan, the Algerian president was accorded an official reception.
His Highness the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of Tebboune and the accompanying delegation at the Amiri Diwan.
The banquet was attended by His Highness the Personal Representative of the Amir and a number of ministers .
His Highness the Amir and the Algerian President also witnessed the signing of an agreement, two memoranda of understanding and an executive programme between the two countries at the Amiri Diwan.
The Amir and the Algerian president witnessed the signing of an agreement on legal and judicial cooperation in criminal matters between the two governments, a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of political consultations and coordination between the two countries’ foreign ministries, as well as a memorandum of understanding in the areas of social development and the family between the two governments.
The Amir and the Algerian president also witnessed the signing of the second executive programme in the field of higher education, scientific and technological research of the educational and scientific cooperation agreement between the two countries’ governments for the academic years (2022-2025).
The signing ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Jassim and a number of ministers.
The ceremony was also attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Algerian president.
