Expatriate communities’ students take part in Qatar Charity’s school fiesta

The fiesta, which is being participated in by nearly 1,000 students from 19 schools for Asian and Arab expatriates, aims to develop the skills of the students, nurture talents in children, and create an interactive atmosphere for the participants.
The 2021-2022 School Fiesta, organised by the Qatar Charity Center for Community Development for Asian expatriates, known as the Friends Cultural Center (FCC), is seeing significant competition between hundreds of students from dozens of schools in the country.
The fiesta, which is being participated in by nearly 1,000 students from 19 schools for Asian and Arab expatriates, aims to develop the skills of the students, nurture talents in children, and create an interactive atmosphere for the participants. Under the 2021-2022 School Fiesta, which will continue until March 4, the students, who are from the 3rd grade to 12th grade, contest in elocution, poem recitation, news reading, and debate. All the competitions are held in Arabic and English. Qatar Charity’s (QC) Programme and Community Development department director Fatima Jumah al-Mohannadi said that fiesta, which comes as part of the organisation’s efforts for various expatriate communities in Qatar, aims to enhance co-operation and cultural interaction among the different communities’ members. She also noted that FCC makes great efforts in holding a variety of events and competitions for students to contribute to improving their skills. The institutions involved include MES Indian School, Noble International School, DPS-Modern Indian School, Birla Public School, Shantinikethan Indian School, Qatar International School, Bhavan's Public School, Ideal Indian School, Qatar Finland School, Ibn Khaldoon Preparatory Boys School, Al Khwarzimi Preparatory School, Doha Modern Indian School, The Scholars International School, Stafford Srilankan School, Al Jazeera Academy, Nord Angelia International School, Bangladesh MHM School & College, Rajagiri Public School and Olive International School. The FCC of QC works on acquainting the expatriate communities, especially those from Asian countries, with the traditions, customs and cultural values of Qatar, and it has been organising various competitions for school students since 2009.
