Qatar Chamber first vice chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari held a virtual meeting Tuesday with Shiham Marikar, the secretary general and CEO of the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka, to discuss commercial co-operation links between both countries.During the meeting, both officials also discussed ways to enhance bilateral ties and promote cooperation between both countries’ private sectors. It also called on Qatari businessmen to invest in Sri Lanka.Al-Kuwari emphasised that Sri Lanka is an attractive destination for Qatari investments, citing “enormous potential in many sectors.” He also stressed that the chamber “highly welcomes” the visit of a Sri Lanka business delegation to Qatar this year.He said the visit offers a good opportunity for businessmen from both sides to bolster cooperation ties and explore available opportunities in Qatar and Sri Lanka, and forge genuine partnerships that are advantageous for both economies.Marikar said the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka is keen on bolstering co-operation with Qatar Chamber, noting that a business delegation from more than 20 Sri Lankan firms will visit Qatar this year to meet their counterparts and explore opportunities available for co-operation with the Qatari side.He said Sri Lanka welcomes Qatari investments in all sectors, such as food security, industry, construction, rubber, IT, and others, indicating that both sides can cooperate and forge genuine partnerships so that Qatar becomes a hub for exporting Sri Lankan products to other countries in the Middle East and Europe.
