Qatar-India ministerial-level meeting slated for mid-2022

The first ministerial-level meeting of the joint committee of India and Qatar will be held in mid-2022. Indian ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal told a press conference on Thursday that high-level delegations from both countries will discuss ways to expand ties to more areas. The envoy noted that the co-operation in security, defence, education, culture, business and tourism is growing while opening doors for further expansion. “Indian investment in Qatar is witnessing an upward trend and prominent Indian businesspersons have visited the country while giving an indication of further growth. More Indian universities are set to come to Qatar in order to help Indian students pursue their higher studies here,” he pointed out. Dr Mittal said the embassy’s mobile application and the hotline 44953500 are available to serve Indians by helping them book appointments and avail various services. "The embassy officials are holding regular visits to the workplaces and detention centres in order to ensure the welfare of community members. Several Indians are making use of the Open House facility and the embassy’s welfare fund,” he observed.The ambassador said the embassy is in touch with the parents of Doha-based students, who got stuck in Ukraine. "India is part of Qatar- Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) year of culture and programmes will be held under the theme ‘Passage to India’. Steps are being taken to draw tourists from Qatar to India," he said.
