In collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), Qatar University’s Foundation Programme (QU-FP), under the Deanship of General Studies, is organising the Al-Qabas Programme 2022 for the fourth year in a row with the theme “To prepare high school students for a successful university experience”.
The student outreach initiative will be held after school hours virtually via MS Teams for grades 10 and 11 high school students from March 20
to 24. The on-campus programme will run from March 27 to 30.
The goal of the programme is to raise awareness among Qatari high school students regarding the different skills needed to succeed in the STEM and medicine fields, such as study skills and test-taking strategies. In addition, it aims to prepare students for university life through a variety of educational sessions that are offered in English and develop their English and math skills, thereby paving the way for enrolment in STEM colleges and enhancing students’ chances for success in their future colleges.
The programme also includes college and class visits to simulate their university experience.
Further, the Al-Qabas Programme includes orientation sessions about admission and the QU student services available. Following the completion of the programme, students will be awarded certificates of participation.
The programme's third edition was held in March 2021 in collaboration with the MoEHE. Some 215 female and 49 male high school students from grades 10 and 11 participated along with faculty and staff members from QU.
