The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Doha recently hosted a webinar on Qatar tax updates and the use of Dhareeba.
As part of Qatar’s continuous efforts to achieve its digital transformation goal, the General Tax Authority (GTA) launched the Dhareeba tax portal, which provides taxpayers with efficient tax services. Since it launched in 2020, there have been changes made to the portal as a result of new tax regulations. In light of the tax filing deadline in April 2022, it is crucial to know and understand these changes in order to identify our tax exposures and file the appropriate tax returns, stated PICPA during the webinar. Qatar has also actively updated its tax regulations in line with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) guidelines as global tax rules continue to evolve. “Keeping abreast of the incoming tax rules will enable us to diagnose and bridge our processes and resource gaps to ensure correct and timely filings once these new laws come into effect,” PICPA also stated. Around 100 PICPA members, associates, and guests participated in the webinar, which was facilitated by KPMG Qatar tax team headed by Barbara Henzen, partner and head of Tax and Corporate Services; along with Imran Ayub, tax director; and Fatima Adrienne Yuzon, tax associate. The two-hour session covered topics on Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Withholding Tax (WHT), Contract Reporting, Tax Audits, Transfer Pricing, and Value Added Tax (VAT). PICPA Doha members and associates comprise a diverse mix of finance professionals with a myriad of work experiences from different industry groups.
