Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) is set to perform once again at the Abdul Aziz Nasser Theatre – Souq Waqif on March 11, taking the audience on a mesmerising musical journey to East and Northern Europe.
“Our journey begins with Bedrich Smetana’s Moldau, continuing to Hungary with Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No.2, D Minor. A brief stop in Russia with Tchaikovsky Overture from Romeo and Juliet followed by one of his most famous Waltz Eugen Onegin. Our final destination takes us to Finland with Jean Sibelius and his Karelia Suite, Op.11,” QPO said in a press statement.
The concert will be conducted by Marcus Bosch, the general music director of the State Theatre and State Philharmonic Orchestra in Nuremberg since 2011 and principal guest conductor of the South-West Philharmonic Orchestra in Constance since 2016.
He has conducted numerous large orchestras in Europe, Asia and America in a guest capacity, including the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Belgique, the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the Orchestre National de Lyon, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Orchestra Nazionale della RAI Torino, the RSB and DSO in Berlin, the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie.
QPO will also perform again at the Abdull Aziz Nasser Theatre – Souq Waqif for the ‘Pearls of Music’ on March 26 at 7.30pm.
QPO will collaborate with the award winner of the Young Talent Award, American Protege Competition and Crescendo Competition. Soloist Lulwa Al Shamlan and the leading conductor Kamoliddin Urinbaev will perform at the concert featuring Saint-Saëns' most popular piano concerto and Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4 which is considered one of the most performed symphonies of the end of the twentieth century, a pearl from the Western classical orchestral repertoire.
