Sidra Medicine has partnered with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to host the sixth edition of the Qatar Paediatric Emergency Medicine (QPEM) conference from March 18 to 20.
QPEM 2022, a virtual conference, will focus on paediatric emergency and urgent care. Prof Khalid al-Ansari, chair of Emergency Medicine at Sidra Medicine and chair of QPEM 2022 said: “Our goal at QPEM 2022 is to provide high-quality, evidence-based updates for healthcare practitioners caring for ill and injured children. Together with our partners from HMC, and with the input from local and international experts, we will share case studies and methodologies so that hospitals and multidisciplinary teams can incorporate quality and patient safety goals into practice.”
QPEM 2022 will feature topics that range from paediatric trauma; procedural sedation; infectious diseases; pain management; surgical emergencies; respiratory emergencies; toxic exposures and more.
Dr Barbara Blackie, senior attending physician of Emergency Medicine at Sidra Medicine and co-chair of the Scientific Committee for QPEM 2022 said: “We have assembled a faculty of highly accomplished and well-published academic, clinical and administrative experts who will present sessions related to the investigation and management of common and critical pediatric medical and traumatic emergencies.”
International speakers at QPEM 2022 include Dr Sami al-Farsi, director of Child Health Department at the Royal Hospital, Oman; Dr Bruce L Davidson, clinical professor of medicine from Washington State University Floyd College of Medicine, USA; Dr Sing-Ye Feng, associate professor, UT Southwestern Medical Centre; Dr Padmanabhan Ramnarayan from the UK; Dr Kerry Woolfall, senior lecturer at The University of Liverpool, UK; Dr Abdullatif Aloumi, lead of toxicology services in Kuwait and faculty of Kuwait Board of Emergency Medicine.
