Ministries highlight roles in protecting environment and encouraging farming

Spreading the message of 'Green Desert and Better Environment' and helping visitors learn about the latest technologies in environmental protection and agriculture, the Ministry of Municipality and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) are taking part in the 9th Qatar International Agriculture Exhibition (AgriteQ 2022) and the 3rd Qatar International Environmental Exhibition (EnviroteQ) at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).The exhibitions, which opened on Thursday, are running until March 14. The pavilion of the Ministry of Municipality highlights its contributions and role in the development of the agricultural sector and schemes to encourage local farmers. HE the Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie, while addressing the inaugural ceremony, said that the exhibitions comes as part of the ministry’s strategy to support food security in Qatar and is inspired by the vision of the wise leadership and the Qatar National Vision 2030 while working to achieve self-sufficiency in all aspects of food. Showcased at the exhibitions are many modern innovations in agricultural technologies and environmental sustainability. The MoECC pavilion highlights its roles for the protection of environment and initiatives to encourage smart waste management while ensuring sustainability. Also, the pavilion focuses on plans to protect the environment, achieve sustainability and confront climate change.HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani said the exhibitions are an effective platform that allows specialists and experts to learn about modern technologies related to water treatment, waste management, smart agriculture and others, especially as Qatar is keen to protect the environment and its natural balance, in order to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development.
 
The minister said Qatar recently launched the Qatar National Strategy for Environment and Climate Change, which is one of the main pillars to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030. This is in line with the sustainable development goals of the United Nations and Qatar’s ambition to achieve a leadership position in the region through the implementation of many projects and initiatives that contribute to efforts to reduce air pollutants and carbon emissions while increasing reliance on renewable energy sources.
