A joint campaign to remove abandoned vehicles was launched on Sunday at Doha Industrial Area, the Ministry of Municipality announced.
The campaign is being was carried out by the committee for removing abandoned vehicles, the mechanical equipment department, and the general cleaning department in co-operation with Doha Municipality.
Hamad Sultan al-Shahwani, head of the general control section at Doha Municipality and member of the committee was present at the launch alongside Lieutenant Sultan Turki al-Dosari from Lekhwiya, Ghanim Nasser al-Qubaissi, from the general control section at Doha Municipality, and a number of Lekhwiya personnel and municipality officials and staff.

Al-Shahwani said the campaign will continue for two weeks until all the spotted vehicles are removed. He urged the owners of garages and workshops to report abandoned vehicles through the Ministry of Municipality website to avoid the potential adverse legal consequences. Besides, he asked those who were notified through SMS by Metrash to remove their abandoned vehicles and refer to the municipality within three days to avoid the related legal consequences.
The official pointed out that around 700 vehicles have been spotted at the Industrial Area and efforts are continuing to spot more. The campaign is the last one for the first round of the work plan for this year. As many as 1,200 abandoned vehicles have been removed so far this year from across all the municipalities.
