The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Department of Public Cleanliness, in co-ordination with municipalities and the security services, removed a large quantity of accumulated sand and trees that had fallen due to the strong winds on Wednesday.
According to a press statement from the ministry, the focus was on main roads in various regions of the country in order to facilitate smooth traffic movement.
Field teams from the department continued their efforts to remove all the trees that had fallen due to the strong winds, while also continuing work to remove dust and accumulated sand from the main roads.
The works covered areas housing Al Furjan markets and main streets. Also, part of an old wall was demolished while trees that fell in the Abu Hamour area, Old Airport Street and at the Abdullah Abdulghani signal were also removed, the ministry said.
A tree that fell on Old Airport Street at the intersection of Abdullah Abdulghani signal was also removed.
Field operations teams from the cleanliness department carried out the necessary cleaning works while removing waste and opening up roads in co-operation with security patrols.
The teams continued to monitor all regions of the country and worked to intervene and provide cleanup services in case the need arose. The teams were doing what was necessary to clean streets and areas and remove waste that obstructs roads.
The ministry has urged the public to report any sand accumulation by communicating with the unified call centre at 184.
