Emphasising its role in serving the local community, whether citizens or residents, Al-Ahli Hospital extended support to the opening of the Lactation Room at the Philippine embassy in Doha.
Dr Abdulbasit Ahmed al-Shaibei, vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of the Medical Care Group, attended the event as the guest of honour in which Philippines Foreign Minister Teodoro Locsin, inaugurated the facility in the presence of his wife Maria Lourdes Bloxino, Philippines ambassador Alan L Timbayan and officials at the embassy.

In his speech during the ceremony, Dr al-Shaibei expressed his happiness to attend the event with the participation of the Philippines Foreign Minister and the Philippines ambassador in Doha.
He stressed that Al-Ahli Hospital appreciates the great contributions of the Filipino community in Qatar. “Therefore, our support for initiatives related to this community or the embassy is quite natural and in line with our respect and appreciation for the vibrant Filipino community in Qatar.”
Dr al-Shabei highlighted the outstanding contributions of the Filipino community in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, and said: “During the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen many Filipino healthcare professionals as frontline warriors. We will remember their contributions and services to our community for a long time and this project we are supporting is part of our gratitude for every one of them."
The vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of the Medical Care Group said: "Al-Ahli Hospital will continue its initiatives in serving the local community, with a focus on quality initiatives that provide value addition to Qatar and support nation-building and taking care of all segments of society, both citizens and residents.
"We, at Al-Ahli Hospital, are aware of our inherently observed social responsibility. Each individual performs this duty for the society through various practices, activities, and efforts aiming mainly at deepening and establishing entrepreneurship and engagement in conjunction with other individuals and institutions inside Qatar and beyond."
Minister Locsin expressed his thanks and gratitude to Al-Ahli Hospital for its initiative and support of the Lactation Room project. He also thanked Dr al-Shaibei for his interest and keenness to attend the opening ceremony, and his appreciation of the Filipino community in Qatar, many of whom are working in the field of healthcare.
