The Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Abu Sidra and Fereej Al Manaseer by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is making progress with the development of roads and internal streets in the area.
Muhamed al-Ateeq, project engineer in the Western Regions Projects Department in Ashghal’s Roads Projects Department, told local Arabic daily Arrayah that the project, upon completion, will serve about 817 plots of land in the Abu Sidra and Fereej Al-Manaseer areas.
“It aims to achieve wide improvements in this area by developing the existing local and internal roads,” he said. “These are in addition to raising the level of traffic safety to respond to the requirements of the population and urban growth in the future.”
The project includes the development and construction of a road network of 40km, and 65km of pedestrian and bicycle paths, in addition to providing traffic safety elements such as street lighting systems, poles and directional signs.
The project will provide 5,972 parking spaces.
The project covers the construction of a service road along Al Furousiya Street from Al Manaseer Intersection to Industrial Area Bridge to serve existing shops in the area.
Infrastructure works include construction of 11.8km of sewage network, 29.5km of surface and groundwater drainage network, 24.4km of treated water network, and 5.6km potable water network, in addition to extension of new drainage pipes linking to the main drainage network.
The project work is divided into three geographical areas to be worked in phases, and the implementation of each phase takes one year.
It is planned that the complete delivery of this project will be during the fourth quarter of 2024.
In order to reduce the impact of the implementation work on the population, Ashghal has divided the project’s work into three geographical areas to be worked on in succession.
The Ashghal official added that 70% of the total materials used in the project are made in Qatar.
