The District Cooling Services Department at the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has conducted a field tour of the district cooling station at Doha Oasis in Msheireb.
According to a press statement by Kahramaa, this comes as part of the department's tasks and role in monitoring and regulating district cooling services work in Qatar.

Headed by District Cooling Services director Abdulaziz al-Hammadi, the engineers conducted follow-up operations of the station’s work that provides the Doha Oasis project with cooling services with a capacity of 12,000 refrigeration tonnes.
“Doha Oasis is considered one of the most important mixed-use development projects in the region … it includes a luxury hotel, hotel apartments, a recreational and commercial complex, and many recreational activities and distinctive parks,” the statement noted.

The district cooling system used in Doha Oasis is based on the latest technologies and an advanced monitoring and control system with the best and latest international practices of operation.
While extending over a built-up area of about 460,000sq m, the station provides the best rates of energy efficiency and water sustainability.
Kahramaa encourages the development and use of the cooling system for areas on a large scale throughout the country, especially in new development and urban projects.
It reduces the cost of energy and infrastructure while enhancing consumption efficiency and the water security of Qatar through the use of water sources by using treated wastewater and seawater, as well as reducing carbon dioxide emissions by reducing consumption rates of natural gas needed to produce electricity, helping to preserve the environment and reduce noise pollution.
By using district cooling stations, Kahramaa also aims to rationalise electric energy and potable water, in line with its vision to achieve the sustainability of water resources and preserve the environment, and keep pace with the use of the latest technologies used in district cooling services, in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
