Bangladesh embassy celebrates Independence, National Day

HE the Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Saeed bin Smaikh al-Marri was the guest of honour at a reception on the occasion of 51st Anniversary of Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.
The event was hosted by Bangladesh ambassador Mohamed Jashim Uddin and his spouse in honour of Qatari dignitaries, ambassadors and diplomats on Monday at the Diplomatic Club.Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs protocol director ambassador Ibrahim Fakhroo, the Diplomatic Corps dean and Eritrean ambassador Ali Ibrahim Ahmed were special guests.Ambassador Jashim Uddin, in his remarks, paid profound homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his charismatic leadership, historic contribution to the independence of Bangladesh and supreme sacrifices by the valiant freedom fighters. He expressed gratitude to the friendly countries and people who lent support to Bangladesh during the war of independence. The envoy highlighted the socio-economic progress of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Government’s vision to transform Bangladesh into a developed country by 2041 and a prosperous and climate resilient delta by 2100. He thanked His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Qatar Government for the support to the Bangladeshi expatriates in Qatar. Ambassador Jashim Uddin highlighted that ‘friendship to all and malice to none’ envisioned by Father of the Nation guides the foreign policy of Bangladesh and this has positioned Bangladesh as a peace loving, responsible UN member. He appreciated Qatar’s success stories in development, diplomacy, sports, international and regional peace and stability. The Bangladesh envoy observed that Qatar has turned into a sports hub, and there is renewed focus to advance the trade and investment relations and cooperation in the areas of health, culture, education and sports. He added that the much-awaited visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Bangladesh and exchange of high-level visits would take the bilateral relations to its next level. Bangladesh’s glorious history, its great independence, strong determination and commitment of people, rich heritage, spectacular natural beauty and diversity in Bangladesh were presented through dance performances by the students of Bangladesh MHM School & College in Doha.
