HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani met on Wednesday with Chinese State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, on the sidelines of the third meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighbouring countries, currently held in Huangshan, China. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and developments in Afghanistan, besides regional and international issues of common interest. For his part, HE Sheikh Mohamed congratulated the Chinese side on the success of the Winter Olympics Games. He also praised the development of Qatari-Chinese relations and partnerships in various fields and China's stances towards Qatar and the Arab issues, especially the Palestinian cause and the two-state solution. The Chinese State Councillor praised Qatar's role as a major international player in mediation and achieving peace, expressed appreciation for its efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in Afghanistan. He also praised the economic relations between the two countries and Qatar's support for the Belt and Road Initiative.
