Qatar Charity (QC) has renewed a co-operation and partnership agreement under which LuLu Hypermarket Qatar continues as a member of the Charity Partner (CP) programme, as well as to support QC’s ‘Ramadan of Hope’ drive through LuLu’s ‘Shop & Donate’ initiative. Under the agreement, LuLu was awarded the ‘CP’ trademark in the sliver category. The renewed agreement comes in light of QC's commitment to provide the necessary aid and support to the target groups, and is part of LuLu Hypermarket Qatar ’s endeavour to support humanitarian work as a duty towards the community.
Under the agreement, LuLu Hypermarket Qatar will publicise the ‘CP’ programme, and draw the attention of companies and establishments, through its marketing activities.
According to the pact, LuLu Hypermarket Qatar will donate QR250,000 to QC, including the proceeds from the 'Shop & Donate’, an initiative launched by LuLu in Ramadan to display many products for shopping to support QC’s ‘Ramadan of Hope’ drive, with a part of the products’ profits.
The agreement was signed by Ahmad Yousef Fakhroo, CEO’s assistant for the Resources Development and Media sector at QC, and Shanavas Padiyath, regional manager of LuLu Hypermarket Qatar.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Fakhroo thanked LuLu Hypermarket Qatar for remaining a ‘CP’ family member and supporting the Ramadan drive. He said that the co-operation and partnership between QC and the LuLu Hypermarket Qatar has been going on for five years, terming it ‘as a distinguished partnership’.
Fakhroo added that QC seeks to strengthen, expand and continue this co-operation for years to come, aiming to include all areas of humanitarian and charitable work, especially in light of LuLu Hypermarket’s expansion across the country. He called on other companies and establishments to join the ‘CP’ programme, as part of their social responsibility towards the community.
“This support is part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR), as we look forward to being an important role player in the social responsibility programmes in collaboration with Qatar Charity, based on the values of solidarity and cooperation between establishments and the community,” said Dr Mohamed Althaf, director of LuLu Group International. He added that such support would also continue in the future, noting that in 2021, QC received a donation of QR250,000 from Lulu Hypermarket Qatar, as part of its ‘Shop & Donate’ drive in support of QC’s Ramadan campaign last year. He indicated that last year LuLu Hypermarket was awarded the ‘CP’ trademark in the gold category and made donations worth 250,000 under the ‘CP’ programme
Over five years, LuLu Hypermarket Qatar and QC have signed several co-operation agreements. The first agreement allows customers to donate when paying their purchase bills at LuLu Hypermarkets to support charitable projects both within and outside of Qatar. The second agreement promotes QC’s Khair Cards, while the third agreement involves collaboration under the ‘Shop & Donate’ initiative.
