The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines Qatar Chapter (IIEE-SQC) held its first technical seminar, as well as a general membership meeting via a hybrid conference recently.
In his speech, Philippine labor attache Adam A Musa highlighted the organisation's creative activities such as multi-location participation on Qatar National Sports Day, Zero Waste campaign, and Philippine Heart Month, among others.
He lauded the organisation's vibrant leadership, saying it was made up of a mix of seasoned previous presidents and advisers, as well as eager young and rising leaders.
He also emphasised the organisation's generosity, proven by its assistance to distressed Overseas Filipino Workers and for victims of typhoon-ravaged Philippines in December 2021.
The event was also attended by Francis V Mapile, chairman of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) – Board of Electrical Engineering; Jaime V Mendoza, member of PRC – Board of Electrical Engineering; incumbent IIEE – national president Feliciano P Padua III; 2022 IIEE – Middle East Region governor and 2018 IIEE – Middle East Region and founding governor Robert U Mabulay – all of whom stressed the members’ professional growth importance.
According to the organisers, the event was a huge success. It was chaired by Lyndon A Ellevera, current vice president - technical, under the auspices of the 2022 BOD/officers/former president and advisers led by the 2022 chapter president Lauren M Olivos.
More than 600 participants in Qatar, the Philippines, and other Gulf countries, as well as electrical engineering students from various universities in the Philippines, attended.
The event focused on three technical topics: Florigo C Varona presented "Big Data Analytics (BDA) in the Philippine Perspective"; Feliciano B Bulos, Jr presented "Essential Quality Inspections Requirement and Handling of Non-Conformance in Construction Projects"; and Regino M Mendoza presented "Generator Synchronisation and Paralleling System Applications."
In addition, technical topics were aligned with the IIEE's theme for 2022, "Leadershift: Rising Above Adversity Through Passion and Commitment Leading on the Road to Recovery."
