PICPA Doha celebrates Accountancy Week

The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Doha recently marked the conclusion of its third annual 'Accountancy Week' with a gathering.

The week-long event, which coincided with Presidential Proclamation No. 1333 declaring March 18, 2022, to March 17, 2023, as the Centenary Year of the Accountancy Profession in the Philippines, offered an exciting array of events such as the Online Quizzards and Quiz Bowl. The Online Quizzards (individual level) was a open-to-all virtual quiz, where bonafide PICPA Doha members answered a series of questions posted daily on PICPA Doha’s official Facebook page. Topics covered on the Online Quizzard were IFRS, business finance, general accounting, general facts, and trivia related to PICPA Doha. Winners of the said activity were Katherine De Los Santos (first), Rey E Dionela (second), and Nikkolai Whitney B Abella (third).Another event was the Quiz Bowl (group level) in which six groups of two to three members each from the Philippine School Doha (PSD) grade 12 senior high school department - Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) Strand Students participated.Group 6 consisting of Dave Javier, Leshamel Montayre, and Carina Ysabel Sardua emerged as the overall champion. Hannah Rose Avendano, Justin Jardin, and Lord Vaunne Drey Teruel from Group 1 secured the first runner-up spot while Group 3 comprising Yeisha Cortez, Ahmine Ilyass, and Miguel Alfonso Villamor were the second runner-up. The organising committee for the week-long celebration was headed by Carmie Joy D Bue (PICPA Doha’s secretary), Wilnessa P Dugang (PICPA Doha’s chairman for website management), and Carl Albrecht B Bautista (PICPA Doha’s associate volunteer for membership). PICPA Doha’s members and associates comprise a diverse mix of finance professionals with a myriad of work experiences from different industry groups.
