MoI begins awareness drive on respecting cultures

The campaign is part of the Community Police Departmentu2019s role in communicating and interacting with the society and its activities that aim to consolidate the concept of participation between policemen and different groups of society.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by the Community Police Department, launched a campaign focusing on raising awareness of the importance of respecting religions and cultures, in co-operation with the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, QNA reported.The campaign is part of the Community Police Department’s role in communicating and interacting with the society and its activities that aim to consolidate the concept of participation between policemen and different groups of society.In this context, the Department held an awareness meeting at the accommodation of QD-SBG employees, and attended by about 500 workers from various Asian and Arab nationalities. Head of the Awareness and Education Section at the Community Police Department Lt Col Rashid Mubarak al-Khayarin said that the meeting comes in implementation of the strategic plan of the Ministry of Interior and in confirmation of its main objective towards achieving security stability and to reduce crime rates.He added that the Department has developed its annual plan for 2022, which centres on awareness of the dangers of crimes and the importance of respecting religions and cultures. He noted that this awareness campaign focuses on a number of axes, foremost of which is respect for customs and traditions; and raising awareness of theft in workers’ residential areas, indicating that the campaign will continue throughout the holy month to include a number of regions in the country.For his part, Acting Director of Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue Dr Ahmed Abdel Rahim noted the importance of respecting cultures and religions, accepting differences and diversity, as well as respecting the laws, customs and traditions of the state in a way that protects social harmony and promotes peace and stability.
