Qatar Museums is holding a series of engaging and fun-filled activities and exhibitions during Ramadan.
The recently-opened 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum launched its obstacle challenge at Aspire Park on April 8, providing “a fun outdoor activity and a great way for kids (ages 4-16 years) to get a full-body workout.” It will run until May 7. Admission is free.“The obstacles provide a variety of challenges that require a combination of strength, balance and coordination,” Qatar Museums (QM) said in an email to Culture Pass members yesterday.A friendly team competition aimed at testing one’s knowledge in the art world is also set to begin today (April 14) at the Doha Fire Station from 8pm to midnight.Dubbed ‘The scavenger hunt’, the contest “challenges teams to find hidden objects inside the Fire Station by following a trail of clues that will test their speed, observation and knowledge about art.”At the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), visitors will have the chance to explore a unique installation by renowned Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist, offering them “an immersive experience of light and sounds”. The exhibition, titled 'Your Brain to Me, My Brain to You (2022)' and will be on view until December 20, puts a spotlight on the importance of mental health.NMoQ also encourages people to visit an exhibition introducing the project, A Sneak Peek at Qatar Auto Museum, at the museum’s Mawater Gallery. On view until early next year, the exhibition was designed by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, led by Pritzker Architecture Prize-winning architect Rem Koolhaas.In addition, NMoQ is also set to organise the ‘Family Saturday – “A Story of Qatar Coffee” on April 23 between 9.30pm and 11pm at the museum’s Learning Studio.The activity puts a spotlight on Qatari culture, allowing participants to learn about “the rich history of Arabic coffee and how it was historically made, as well as the ritual behind serving Arabic coffee. At the end of the session, participants will enjoy decorating a custom coffee cup of their own.”Meanwhile, Katara – the Cultural Village is hosting the Katara Ramadan Championship 2022 Playstation (7pm to 11pm) for 300 players, and the gypsum doll workshop Ramadan 2022 scheduled on April 20.NMoQ also has several upcoming activities, including the Islam’s Influence on the Heritage, Culture and Architecture of Qatar - The Coming of Oil Gallery from April 18 to 25 for Arabic and from April 21 to 28 for English. It will also hold the Al Zubarah Qur’an Manuscript Tour and Workshop - Life on the Coast Gallery on April 21.
