The competitions of the fourth edition of the 2022 Nishan Vodafone Ramadan Tournament began on Tuesday at the Lusail Shooting Range with the participation of more than 500 competitors in both the amateur and professional events.
This community tournament is organised under the patronage of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, where competitors are fighting hard for top places in four events – Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Archery.
The day one saw tough competitions between the participants in air pistol class for both amateur and professionals (Men and Women). In the men’s professional event, Osama Abdulnaser Ahmed claimed the first place with (187 points), Ali Hassan Murshid settled in the second place (183 points) and third place went to Ali Mohamed Abdalla al-Attiyiah (183 points).
In the women’s professional event, Meriam Mariyana hit the highest level to win the first place (169 points), Reem al-Sharshani finished second (166 points), Nasra Mohamed took third place (166 points) and Ghaliya Ali al-Malki came fourth (166 points).
In the men’s amateur event, Abdulrahman Mohsen al-Ezbah won the first place (178 points), Mohamed Khalid al-Sidiqi finished second (177 points) and the third place went to Hamad Saleh al-Karbi (177 points).
In the women’s amateur event, Ghada Ali al-Ghamdy claimed the first place (164 points), Ashia Ali al-Sadah won the second place (163 points) and Ahlam Mazen Abdulatif clinched the third place (155 points).
The tournament director and Assistant Secretary-General of Qatar Shooting & Archery Association Abdulaziz Mohamed al-Tamimi said this edition is an exceptional one with a record breaking in the terms of number of participants that hit 500 competitors in both the amateur and professional events.
From his part, Sheikh Mohamed bin Salman al-Thani, Head of the Tournament’s technical committee, lauded the significant turnout to the tournament from citizens and residents so far. “We are truly felt surprise from the high technical performance shown by the amateurs , whose results were best than some professionals, we expect rising performance and we can seen new records later.”
More than 500 competitors are taking part in the Nishan Vodafone Ramadan Tournament.
