MESIS team attends GMUN-2022

The MESIS team comprised Ian Alexander who represented UNHRC-Uganda, Ann Mary Thomas (DISEC-UK), Falaqul Thahira (SPECPOL-Qatar), Laiha Safeer (UNDP-China), Shama Nayeem (UNHRC Israel) and Heba Masood (Arab League-Sudan).
Student delegates from MES Indian School, Abu Hamour Branch participated in a three-day Georgetown Model UN Conference (GMUN-2022) organised by Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q). The MESIS team comprised Ian Alexander who represented UNHRC-Uganda, Ann Mary Thomas (DISEC-UK), Falaqul Thahira (SPECPOL-Qatar), Laiha Safeer (UNDP-China), Shama Nayeem (UNHRC Israel) and Heba Masood (Arab League-Sudan). All participating student delegates debated on various global issues in different committees. The issues discussed at GMUN included the establishment of democracy in Sudan, combating corruption in developing countries, sustainable tourism in space, fourth generation warfare, safety of journalists in conflict zones, addressing the issues of statelessness of refugees and migrants.
Manmmadhan Mambally co-ordinated the school participation. The students were accompanied by teachers Zeniya Azeem and Pankaj Raj Kumar. MESIS principal Dr Mohammad Haneef appreciated the students.
